i love crying like a little bitch, don’t you?

I know we’re all tired of the “man proudly holding fish he caught” genre of profile picture on dating apps & sites, but I think we’re just going to have to accept that fishbros aren’t going to stop because they’ve been doing it for millennia

Capitalist “law and order” for ya

I know we’re all terrified by America right now, but you need to know what is happening in Britain, there’s so much shit going on, but here’s some of the highlights:

The UN have condemned the British government for “grave” failures regarding disabled people’s rights. [x]

There are over half a million people using food banks, because they cannot afford to eat. [x]

The benefits system is declaring people fit to work, ignoring the opinions of their doctors, and refusing them money unless they spend 35 hours a week actively looking for work. These include people with severe disabilities, mental health issues, and people who are literally dying. In fact, around eighty people a month die within six weeks of being declared fit to work by this system. [x]

16.7% of the population is living in poverty, with a further 30% at serious risk of slipping into poverty [x]

Children are suffering from such severe malnutrition they’re having to be treated for rickets. [x]

It’s currently estimated that 1 in 200 people in the UK are homeless. [x]

This is just a tiny snapshot, and I won’t even go into the NHS crisis, because that deserves it’s own massive post.

We’re now deporting people who’ve lived and worked here for decades. We invited a load of commonwealth citizens over, starting in 1948, with the arrival of HMS Windrush, and they became known as the Windrush Generation, but though they were given indefinite leave to remain we didn’t give out any damned paperwork until after 1971 so we’re kicking them out now that they’re old and not paying taxes, despite the fact that most of them came over as children, and that they made lives here, and worked to support this goddamned racist backwater of a country for decades. Ko Panyi is a fishing village in Thailand’s Phang Nga Province, built on stilts in the waters of the Andaman Sea. It was established at the end of the 18th century by nomadic fishermen and is home to roughly 360 families, or 1,680 people. The village has a school, a mosque, shops and restaurants for tourists, and even a floating soccer pitch built by local children from rafts and scraps of wood.

Jordan Peterson is back again with more of his unwanted, backwards, misogynistic words of advice.

His solution to incel terrorists like the one in the Toronto Van Attack? Forced monogamy.

“That’s because you’re female.”

All I see is:

How dare you, sir! Ferengi are CLEVER. Arseholes, yes but CLEVER arseholes.

The weirdo above clearly *is not.*

Yeah but everytime some guy says “female,” I hear Quark saying “feeeeemale.”

Ahhhh, I get you now! :-P

SANTA FE, TX—In the hours following a violent rampage in Texas in which a lone attacker killed eight individuals and seriously injured several others, citizens living in the only country where this kind of mass killing routinely occurs reportedly concluded Friday that there was no way to prevent the massacre from taking place. “This was a terrible tragedy, but sometimes these things just happen and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop them,” said Ohio resident Erica Webb, echoing sentiments expressed by tens of millions of individuals who reside in a nation where over half of the world’s deadliest mass shootings have occurred in the past 50 years and whose citizens are 20 times more likely to die of gun violence than those of other developed nations. “It’s a shame, but what can we do? There really wasn’t anything that was going to keep this individual from snapping and killing a lot of people if that’s what they really wanted.” At press time, residents of the only economically advanced nation in the world where roughly two mass shootings have occurred every month for the past eight years were referring to themselves and their situation as “helpless.”

Given the current human rights disaster in Gaza, and the fact that Shavuot is coming up and it is therefore yet another opportunity for Jews to be charitable, I have attempted to compile a small and handy list of organisations working towards peace or related goals in Israel and Palestine, in the hope that all you people (including non-Jews: this is for you too!) who want to help in some small concrete way will be able to find an organisation you’d like to support.

B’Tselem: The Israeli Information Centre for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, working to end the occupation by documenting human rights abuses in the occupied territories.

Breaking the Silence: An organisation of veterans of the Israeli forces, publishing testimonies of the realities of life in the occupied territories, in the hope of ending the occupation.

Medical Aid for Palestinians: Delivering health and medical care to Palestinian communities affected by conflict, occupation and displacement, including providing emergency medical aid at times of crisis.

Combatants for Peace: An organisation of Israeli and Palestinian former combatants, working to promote dialogue and non-violence, with the aim of ending the occupation and finding a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Gisha: The Legal Centre for Freedom of Movement, working to protect the freedom of movement of Palestinians, especially Gaza residents, by promoting rights guaranteed by international and Israeli law.

The Galilee Society: The Arab National Society for Health, Research and Services (R.A.), working to achieve equitable health, environmental and socio-economic conditions, and to increase development opportunities for Palestinian Arabs inside Israel.

Here are some more that I can think of:

Adalah: The Legal Center For Arab Minority Rights in Israel - they provide legal aid to individual Palestinians, most recently advocating for severely injured Gazans to be allowed passage to Ramallah to receive urgent medical care; in addition they are currently petitioning the Israeli Supreme Court arguing on the illegality of the IDF’s rules of engagements.

Yesh Din: An organization that focuses on holding the perpetrators of human rights violations legally (and criminally) accountable, also participating in Adalah’s petition to the Supreme Court right now.

Physicians For Human Rights - Israel: Focusing on access to medical care, likewise they provide legal aid in individual cases and advocate for policy changes (their activism intersects with Gisha’s).

reblogging this again - PHRI director announced they’ll be shipping medical supplies into gaza! please donate!

Looking at my dash in the break room during lunch and I sang a little song that goes like this: “dicks at work, dicks at work”

Well, thank goodness good ol’ Auntie Beeb censored that terribly offensive word so that I didn’t have to read it with my own fair eyes

Officers cleared over baton strike arrest

“It is alleged that the man made several offensive remarks to the officers prior to his arrest.

“Based on the evidence available, our opinion was that the force used by the officers was necessary, proportionate and reasonable throughout the situation.”

So apparently in Birmingham, making offensive comments to a copper = it’s justifiable for that copper & his filth pals to pepper spray you, beat you with batons, and knock you to the ground.

One law for them.

The sadness of living without sex

Such sadness here. We forget that we’re *social* apes. A lack of intimacy can be like a jail sentence.

The tragedy is that the Incel and other woman-hating movements make it even harder for some people to reach out.
